Taylor & Taylor began operations as Shepherd-Taylor Associates in 1956, when Raymond Taylor placed the initial insurance for Saito’s, New York City’s first prominent Japanese restaurant, opened by a Japanese-born restauranteur. In 1984 Shepherd-Taylor merged into Taylor & Taylor Associates, Inc with its principal place of business in New York City. In 1994 the operation expanded to the west coast with the opening of our California office and in 2010 Taylor & Taylor expanded its operations once again with the opening of our newest location in Alpharetta, Georgia. Through word of mouth, advertising and good service, we now insure more than 5,000 businesses and individuals throughout the world.
Raymond Taylor, a Queens College Graduate, started his business career in 1954 selling Life Insurance as an agent for Equitable of Iowa. A Certified Life Underwriter (CLU), he was eligible, as early as 1964, to be a member of the Million Dollar Roundtable but always declined to join. “No other professional organization gives awards based upon dollar volume,” he observes. “A doctor or lawyer doesn’t receive an award based upon the fees that they have collected.”
Scott Taylor is President of Taylor & Taylor. He is an honors graduate of N.Y.U. with a law degree from St. John’s University and is admitted to the New York State Bar. In a business that involves leases and other legal documents, knowledge of the law has proved valuable in assuring that our clients get the best service that they deserve.
We pride ourselves on always doing what is best for you whether you are a long standing customer or perhaps are about to become one. Taking care of our customers’ needs has elevated our company to the current level of respect that we have within the industries we serve.
Our agency has years of experience with Entertainment, Photographic and Communications related businesses and Japanese companies that are doing business in the U.S.A. The result of our years of experience is the development of insurance protection that reliably addresses the risks that are unique to these businesses.
To solidify our commitment to the industries we insure, we are active members in various trade organizations. As active members in industry groups, we are able to witness changes in how business is being conducted and then create insurance coverage that will address these new exposures. It is our attention and knowledge of the specifics of your industry that differentiates us from our competitors.
